The Dougy Center: Grief Support for Young Adults

Information provided by: the Southwestern Wisconsin Behavioral Health Partnership

We offer two groups for young adults, one for people 18-25 and one for people 26-35ish who have experienced the death of a relative, partner, or friend. Based on a peer support group model, the group is an opportunity to meet with other people who are dealing with the vast and, at times overwhelming range of reactions we can experience after a death. We work to create an atmosphere that is safe, accepting, and free from unsolicited advice or platitudes. Participants are invited to share their personal experiences with grief, ask questions of the group, and provide support for the other participants. The groups are ongoing, free of charge, and meet every other week for 1.5 hours in the evening.
